Iggys

So I get an email from my eldest daughter Monday.

hi dad

i woke up with a good idea on my mind. i want a iguana for a pet. I tell mom, and she said maybe. What do you think? I will name him Fred and I will pick up his poop and feed him. I promise! Can I please have one?

Love Jordan

I'm thinking, "here we go again!"

Little over a year ago, the same daughter, approached me with the incredable desire for a dog. Pretty much the same plea, of "I will pick up his pooop and feed him. I promise! Can I have one please?" Do I even need to go into an explaination of who takes care of our beloved Pudge the pug?

Now she wants an Iguana! Another pet, that I KNOW I will be taking care of in less than a year.

All night long all I hear is, "Can we Dad, can we?"

I said,"Let me do some research and we will see?"

So off to the internet highway I go for an education about Iguanas. It didn't take long on the road to higher learning, that I discovered that these critters are not something I am interested in. Change of "bath water" everyday, fresh salad everyday, habbitat that would accomodate a 5-6 ft adult male, a tail that can break a human arm if hit just right....on and on and on. So I tell Jordan all this and as her eyes widen, I can tell she is starting to have second thoughts.

Now it's time to go in for the kill.

"Jordan love," I say in the most delicate way, "it gets worse. Do you know what they eat for protein? Crickets!"

Jordan hates crickets. We get them in our basement in the summer and she will not go down there if one is heard muchless spotted. Oh that was the clincher.

"Dad, " she said, "I think I'll just be happy with Pudge. Can he sleep with me tonight?"

"You bet baby. Anything for you!"

I think you should try this approach when she starts to notice boys.

"And Jordan, honey...do you know what their hygeine is like? Let me explain..."

"Ewww! I don't want to date boys until I'm in college. Is that OK?"

"It's alright with me, sweetie!"

It has always been this way with her now that I think about it. Dawn and I had a tough time getting her to give up her binky. (Pacifier) I had to scrunch up my face and tell her. "Binkys are yuckie...ewwwww" She cried..but gave it up.

hey, one option on your profile is called 'random question',and blogger just generates questions that you write your answer to...

My random question has to do with putting a straw thru an apple...it made me think of that time w/ the pampered chef corer and the arrow...
funny day.
